Think you are ready for an E-business?
So you are pretty sure that you are ready to venture out and start up your electronic business? What alot of people always seem to forget is that any business that you start has to be treated like a real business. You are a business CEO now so you have to act like one.
There are a few quick activities that i think you can do that will help you understand where you want to end up. I reccomend these because i think it is important to realize that it doesn’t happen overnight and could take weeks, months, or even years to accomplish depending on your goals.
Here are just a few questions that will help you out in the beginning.
1.) Why do you want to start a business? Suprisingly not alot of individuals even think this one through.
2.) What are the goals that you would like to accomplish with the business. Start-from-scratch companies should think milestones and baby-steps getting started. Goals are essential to being able to monitor the growth of your business.
3.) How much time weekly can you contribute to your online business? Can you spend 10 minutes a week, or 10 hours a week? It is important with proper time management have an idea of how much time you can devote consistantly to developing your online business.
4.) List out the pros and cons of having a business. For example:
PRO: I like being a business owner and setting my own hours.
CON: I hate taxes!
These are some general planning thoughts for your online business. Having an understanding of where you want to go and how you will get there is the most important piece. Yes there are many, many more questions that will come your way like:
Which ERP/accounting package should i use to manage my business?
What about taxes and earnings?
Do i need business insurance?
For this you can get more general information from the Small Business Administration - Small Business Planner website. I mean you pay for it already (in some form or fashion) you should put it to work for you and your new business.
Also, you should consult a qualified legal advice about your online business such as a CPA to find out all the additional needs for your new venture. If you have most of the information put together first this will make his job easier, and will cost you less as well in return since they are normally paid in hourly increments. :)
